Bayern Munich fan favorite Jamal Musiala has been out of the game for a long time, or at least, he was, until he hit the ground running for the club again recently. He has never been one to hide behind excuses. And even now, as he continues his return from injury, that mindset has not changed.
Speaking after Bayern’s game against Frankfurt in an interview captures by @iMiaSanMia, the 21-year-old admitted he is still searching for full rhythm. He ran hard, had his moments, and is taking things step
by step. For Musiala, it is simple: no excuses. If he plays badly, he owns it. When he is on the pitch, he believes he has to deliver.
“For me, it’s better to ease back into it a bit more slowly and hopefully be better by the end of the season. That’s why I’m happy with the progress I’m making now. I’m doing a lot of extra training sessions so my foot always feels fresher. Some days it’s a bit stiff. But like I said: I don’t want any excuses; when I’m on the pitch, I have to perform and deliver,” he said. Despite all his efforts, however, there are still subconscious moments, he says, when hesitation creeps in. But with each match, the confidence grows.
“But from game to game, I have more and more confidence in my foot. I see the steps forward I’m taking week by week. I wish everything would go faster, but I’ve also learned patience with this injury.”
For Bayern, that patience could prove vital. Because a fully confident Musiala changes everything.
