With the 2026-27 college basketball season arriving, international forward Ousmane N’Diaye is now officially cleared to play for the Kentucky Wildcats.
On Wednesday, KSR’s Jack Pilgrim reported that N’Diaye has been cleared by the NCAA. In addition, N’Diaye will be classified as a junior under the old NCAA eligibility guidelines, not the new 5-in-5 rules. That would mean the 22-year-old N’Diaye has two seasons to play for Kentucky, though he could potentially remain in college for three seasons if one
of those were a redshirt season.
This is great news for Kentucky, who won’t have to worry about whether N’Diaye can play as the regular season tips off soon. The Wildcats are already without Kam Williams (foot), Trent Noah (hamstring), and Jerone Morton (knee), so not having N’Diaye cleared when the season began would have been a frustrating development.
Thankfully, N’Diaye is now ready to rock and is coming off a great showing at the Kentucky Pro Day on Tuesday. He comes to Lexington having played extensively in overseas professional leagues. He developed through Spain’s youth and loan system with Baskonia before last playing in Italy with Vanoli Cremona.
The hope is that experience will have N’Diaye ready to take on a major role in Year 1 and potentially be the starting 4 when the season tips off.
