Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across Major League Baseball. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Yankees fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
The New York Yankees have gone through an eerily healthy spring training and will seemingly (knock on wood) enter the regular season with the same unit they expected to when pitchers and catchers reported. That being said, they knew from the jump that their starting
rotation would be impacted by offseason recoveries. Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, and Clarke Schmidt will not be active on Opening Day, with each hoping to return at various points of the season.
Max Fried will once again have pressure to be the ace, and young Cam Schlittler will also face questions about whether his sterling rookie debut is sustainable or not. But the most attention will probably be on the middle/back half of the rotation. Are Luis Gil’s spring training and sluggish 2025 signs that he’s unable to return to 2024 AL Rookie of the Year form? Can Will Warren take steps forward, or will he just be a middling starter? And is offseason addition Ryan Weathers the real thing, or just another project?
Rather than asking you to pick the worst of the three, we’re going to take the glass-half-full approach and ask who you think will have the best 2026 from this trio. Vote in the poll and we’ll check out the results later this week.
