Amongst the deadline day deals happening on Monday, the club announced that young midfielder Harvey Elliott will be joining Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.
A Liverpool fan since childhood, Elliott joined the club in 2019 and has made 149 appearances and scored 17 goals.
Multiple reports for the deal mention that in addition to the season long loan and a £35 million fee, there is
a sell on clause should they move him to somewhere else, and a buy back clause giving the Child (as he was affectionately known by fans) a chance to come back home to Anfield.
At only 22, and the prospect of regular first team football, Liverpool thought it imperative to include the mythical buy back clause, judging by his potential and love of the club. Unfortunately Elliott was unlikely to get those minutes while at Liverpool, and so this situation seems to benefit everyone involved.
Hopefully Unai Emery can give Elliott a chance to thrive that Slot seemed hesitant to. Not only will he get Premier League experience, but hopefully some Europa experience as well.
