FC Heidenheim showed no mercy against Bayern Munich and made the Bavarians fight with everything for a 3-3 draw. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany rested several players ahead of the UCL semis against PSG. The bench was found lacking by the vising Heidenheim side who put three goals past Urbig’s net. However, Kompany’s team showed incredible mentality to fight till the very last minute and levelled the scoreline.
Vincent Kompany prioritized the importance of mentality shown by Die Roten. The Belgian has
forged a strong locker room and instilled incredible belief in the team. This game is a continuation of a series of games where Bayern have come back from behind against all odds. “It was the mentality, the belief in ourselves. Of course we could have done a lot better, but we mustn’t forget the lads did everything to avoid a defeat. We need to take that into the next game. Everything else are details we have to improve. Heidenheim fought tooth and nail and defended well. We didn’t play to our potential at the beginning, they made the most of it,” said Kompany (FC Bayern).
Trailing by a goal against PSG, Kompany has already declared a complete showdown in the Allianz Arena on Wednesday for the semi-final. Harry Kane and others fought back against PSG and turned a woeful score of 5-2 to 5-4. Like the manager has mentioned, Bayern at this moment are suffering from issues across the lineup. The defense and finishing are important areas of concern that could with some immediate improvements.
