While they didn’t get enough outside help to escape the Play-In, the Sixers wrapped up the 2025-26 regular season with a 126-106 blowout win over the hospital
version of the Milwaukee Bucks. With a win from the Toronto Raptors and a loss from the Orlando Magic, the Sixers will officially be the seventh seed in the East and host the first Play-In tournament game.
Tyrese Maxey, like the rest of the team, came alive in the third quarter to put the game away. He led the Sixers with 21 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the floor along with two rebounds and one assist. Paul George and VJ Edgecombe both scored 11 points as the starters got most of the fourth quarter off.
Andre Drummond made an immediate impact off the bench, pulling down 13 rebounds while putting up 12 points. Justin Edwards caught fire from deep to drop 17 while Quentin Grimes had 20. With several candidates all around, let’s talk bell ringer.
Tyrese Maxey: 21 points (8-of-13 FG), 2 rebounds, 1 assist
The majority of the contributions came off the bench in this one, but how Maxey came out of halftime is what swung the game their way. The Sixers opened the game with a really uninspiring effort, so much so that they trailed the Bucks by four at the break.
Maxey came out gunning to start the third, getting to the basket possession after possession. He dropped 16 of his 21 points as he shot 7-of-8 from the field in the frame. The lingering effects of his hand injuries seemed to be bugging him early, but he finished his night with a pair of outside shots as well. He hit a long two before coming off a screen to pull up for his second three of the night.
On top of that, he helped restore the vibes in the building by chest bumping the fan who nailed a half court shot to win a cryptocurrency prize. It wasn’t his gaudiest stat line but as is the case for most Joel Embiid-less wins, Maxey was the driver.
Andre Drummond: 12 points, 13 rebounds
In relief for Adem Bona, who clearly didn’t have it on the night, Drummond gave an instant boost with his rebounding. As he was pulling them down on both ends, he started to pile up baskets against a shorter Bucks team. The Sixers moved the ball well between the high and low post early in the second quarter to beat Milwaukee’s zone defense.
On top of his post-ups, Drummond had it going on from deep, making two of his three attempts. He’ll end the regular season having made 32 three-pointers capping off a tremendous year of hard work in that area. He had only made 18 in his entire career before this season.
Justin Edwards: 17 points (6-of-13 FG, 5-of-8 3PM), 1 rebound, 2 assists
The final nomination is also a reserve. The reason Edwards beats out Grimes here even though Grimes scored three more points is impact. It felt like Grimes put up a few more points when the game was well out of hand while Edwards helped put the game out of hand in the first place.
The Sixers were on track for another putrid shooting night from behind the arc before he started firing in the second quarter. He made two in that period and three more coming out of the break as the Sixers were finally able to put the game away. Before the game Nick Nurse talked about what Edwards will have to do to keep that last rotation spot going into the Play-In and of course hitting shots was at the top of the list. This certainly isn’t a bad way to go into those games for Edwards.
