Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has confirmed Barcelona’s Dani Olmo has picked up an injury while on international duty.
Olmo linked up with the squad for World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria but now appears doubtful for both fixtures.
“Olmo hasn’t trained all week and he arrived tired, with some discomfort. Today he didn’t feel well, so we told him to stop training,” he told reporters.
“I’m extremely upset about any player’s injury. We’ll see what happens with Dani, let’s wait for the medical
report.”
Spain are set to run tests on Olmo and an update is expected on whether he will continue with the squad or return to Barcelona.
The news is unlikely to go down well at Barcelona as it comes at a time when there’s tension between club and country after Lamine Yamal returned from international duty last month with an injury.
If Olmo is sidelined then he’ll join Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Raphinha, Gavi, Joan Garcia and Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the team’s injury list.
