Barcelona Atletic made a strong start to their new season with a 5-0 win over CD Náxara on Sunday in a game which saw new striker Ignasi Quer steal all the headlines.
Quer arrived on a free transfer from CE L’Hospitalet and has taken no time at all to make an impact, scoring four times in the victory.
The 22-year-old opened the scoring after just one minute with a clinical finish from Aziz Issah. The two players then combined again for Quer’s second 10 minutes before half-time.
Another composed finish from Quer from an Orian Goren flick brought up his hat-trick deep into the second half before Alex Gonzalez made it 4-0 with an emphatic shot that flew in off the crossbar.
Quer than grabbed a fourth in stoppage time when he reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box to complete the scoring.
“You don’t imagine scoring four goals, but I did hope to try and score. It’s been a dream debut with Barça; I’m absolutely thrilled,” he said after the match.
A dream debut indeed and a player worth keeping an eye on this season with Juliano Belletti’s side.
