The Utah Jazz will travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Hornets on Sunday night. This will be the second of five straight road games for the Jazz, as Will Hardy’s squad will look to get back on track after back-to-back losses.
In Utah’s last game against Phoenix on Friday, Lauri Markkanen and Keyonte George were begging for help from anybody that would step up. Markkanen, who scored 33 points, and George, who nearly notched a 17-point triple double, were the only two players to reach double digits
scoring numbers. The Suns easily put away the Jazz in a 22-point victory in the first game of the NBA Cup group play.
Markkanen is riding a hot hand in the first stretch of the season, scoring 30-plus in the last four games. The Finnish phenom is shooting 50.5% from the field and 39.2% from deep.
The Hornets come into Sunday’s game riding a 3-game losing streak, and boast one of the NBA’s poorest performing defenses. In only six games, the Hornets have given up 130-plus points three times on their way to a 2-4 record. Their average margin of defeat in this current losing streak is 20.0 points.
This will be the first game that the Jazz will play against the Hornet’s Collin Sexton, who played three seasons for the Jazz before being traded to Charlotte in June. Sexton is averaging an impressive 18.6 points per game on an insane 60.0% field goal shooting and 64.3% 3-pt shooting.
