WWE SummerSlam is coming up next weekend (Aug. 1 & 2) at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. These nine matches are currently advertised for the two night extravaganza.
- WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
- World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins
- Hell in a Cell: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
- Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Chad Gable
- Women’s Interim Championship: Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. TBD vs. TBD vs. TBD
- Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. IYO SKY
- GUNTHER vs. Nick Aldis
- Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio
- LA Knight & Solo Sikoa & Royce Keys vs. The Bloodline
A new report this week from WrestleVotes Radio says ESPN expects WWE to book a total of 12 or 13 matches across the two nights of SummerSlam. If that’s true, there is only room for three or four more matches to be added to the lineup.
Even without top stars like Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, and Ilja Dragunov Becky Lynch around
for the build to SummerSlam, there are still plenty of interesting names who might not make the cut. Here are some of the notable WWE stars who don’t currently have a match at the biggest party of the summer. I won’t include Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Kiana James, or Chelsea Green, who are all booked in qualifying matches tonight (July 24) on SmackDown for the interim women’s title ladder match.
- World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Austin Theory
- Women’s Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca
- United States Champion Trick Williams
- WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fatal Influence
- WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth & Damian Priest
- Sami Zayn
- Finn Balor
- Je’Von Evans
- Bayley
- Baron Corbin
- Street Profits
- Lyra Valkyria
- Carmelo Hayes
- Giulia
- Alexa Bliss
- Joe Hendry
- Jacy Jayne
- Ethan Page
- Brie Bella & Paige
- Rusev
- Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez
- Ricky Saints
- Lash Legend
- Dragon Lee
- Otis & Tozawa
- Matt Cardona
- Tama & Talla Tonga
Trick Williams vs. Baron Corbin seems like it will be added to SummerSlam, perhaps as soon as tonight, but things are pretty wide open after that. Is it really possible that former WWE Champion Sami Zayn won’t make the cut? What about current champions like Bron Breakker and Sol Ruca? Will creative find something for Finn Balor or Je’Von Evans to do at one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year?
Which of these WWE stars do you expect will make the cut for SummerSlam if only three or four more matches can be added to the show? Give me your bold predictions in the comments below, Cagesiders.
