This week, we’re peering toward the end of the season and, 130 games in, asking for your thoughts on how the final month will transpire. And more to the point, how bad (or improved, if you are looking for sunshine) will the White Sox end up?
With no possibility of 121 losses as
in 2024, there are two key milestones. On the negative side, will the White Sox equal or surpass the second-most losses in franchise history (106, 1970)? On the “plus” side, will the White Sox avoid 100 losses for an unprecedented third straight season?
Heading into action on Tuesday, the White Sox are 48-83 and on pace to end the season 11-20, for a 59-103 (.366) finish. To hit 106 losses, the club would have to finish the season 8-23 (.258) to end at 56-106. And to avoid 100 losses the White Sox will have to play near-.500 ball, finishing 15-16 (.484) to end up 63-99.
