While Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has had his fair share of struggles with managing the clock in 2025, that wasn’t the case on Sunday.
As the Seahawks barely eked out a victory over the Indianapolis Colts, thanks in large part to Macdonald using his three timeouts to preserve 47 seconds for his offense’s game-winning drive. At his post-game press conference, Macdonald gave the credit for the decision to long-time Seahawks analyst and Director of Football Analysis and Special Situations,
Brian Eayrs.
“He was really decisive, I give him a lot of credit,” Macdonald said. “I gave him a game ball in the locker room because he put us in a position to still have a chance to win the game.”
Off the back of a sixth Jason Myers field goal from 56 yards out, the Seahawks did manage to win the game. Making this the fourth game in franchise history the Seahawks have won a game without scoring a touchdown.
Macdonald said he and Eayrs thought the Colts were out of range for a Blake Grupe game-leading field goal on that drive, in which Grupe nailed a career-long 60-yard field goal to give Indianapolis the lead.
“It was actually deeper than we anticipated. The guy made a heck of a kick,” Macdonald said. “We thought he was beyond his line.”
Next up for the Seahawks are the Los Angeles Rams on a short week, where Seattle’s offense will try to get back on track by giving Myers’ leg a rest and scoring at least one touchdown.
