Looks like football runs in the Kvaratskhelia family. Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and his club PSG will face Bayern Munich in a Champions League semifinal second leg, in which the Georgian has already proven his class.
But while Bayern look to stop the former Napoli SC player, they are apparently also looking to sign his younger brother, Toni Kvaratskhelia (I am getting good at remembering to write that name). According to Georgian publication La Gazzetta Georgia (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) Bayern have
even gone as far as to fly the 16-year-old to Munich:
Bayern are interested in signing Tornike Kvaratskhelia (16/left-winger), brother of PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Kvaratskhelia flew to Munich, will have a meeting with Bayern officials and visit the club’s facilities as an introduction. The 16-year old was included in Dinamo Tbilisi’s first team squad for the first time last Saturday. Several other European clubs are also interested.
The first immediate snag in any potential transfer dealings would be that Bayern cannot sign Tornike before he turns 18. UEFA ruling stipulate Bayern cannot transfer a player from a non-EU country (such as Georgia) before this age. Bayern would not be able to bring Tornike before the first transfer window after his 18th birthday, which would be in the summer of 2028. Nor would the regulations, as current Bayern loanee Bara Sapoko Ndiaye is currently a very good example of, allow Tornike to play for the club’s youth teams. Bayern’s Uli Hoeness has already openly complained about the rules. This issue is the same one that prevented early Bayern interest in Kvicha Kvaratskhelia from becoming something from concrete nearly a decade go. It does not mean, however, that the transfer is impossible or that the player’s skill should not be discussed.
Tornike at first bears a lot of footballing similarities to his older brother. The youngster likes to play on the left, though he plays centrally as well, and his unbelievably quick movements with a surprisingly large frame make him seem a lot like his brother. If one wants to get something of an impression of the youngster and what kind of player he is, watch YouTube channel Geo Scout’s video here.
Interestingly enough, there is an established connection between Tornike’s club Dinamo Tbilisi and Bayern. In early 2023, Bayern signed highly rated youngster Luka Parkadze (as soon as he turned 18) from Tbilisi following a very promising trial. Parkadze’s time at Bayern was a huge disappointment, unfortunately, with huge injuries and a very poor development plan involving two unsuccessful loans in 2 and a half years leading to disappointment. 2025 marked the end of said 30 month period, with the Georgian moving to second division Austrian side SV Austria Salzburg.
Perhaps Bayern should neglect to tell Tornike how that went if the Bavarians wish to sign him.
