The Daily Merengue is a place where you can feel free to d all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name! Shoutout to the mods who do a fantastic job, Ezek, Valyrian Steel, Kung_Fu_Zizou, Juninho, NeRObutBlanco and yours truly, Felipejack.
Argentina did it again…
Now, it was England time to bottle it…Despite being 1-0, they went to deep and conceded many chances to Argentina. It looked like they didn’t watched Argentina previous game, in which Messi’s team managed to win despite adversities.
As Brazilian, I don’t like saying it, but Argentina deserve to reach the final yesterday and England did not. It hurts even more to recognize that Argentina’s players really fight in the pitch, very far from what Brazilians did in the tournament.
Despite Argentina fight in the pitch, what’s odd in this World Cup is how Argentina looks to be favored by referee calls in different games.
If France reminds Real Madrid of last two seasons, Argentina with heroic comebacks almost every knockout stage in the World Cup, reminds Real Madrid 21/22 UCL campaign.
Hats off to Bellingham for an amazing World Cup:
• 6 games • 7 G/A • 6 goals • 1 assist • 4 MOTM
Former English players talked about the defeat
Joe Hart: Thomas Tuchel showed that he DIDN’T BELIEVE in his team after they went 1-0 up.
Wayne Rooney: “England was PANICKING! You can’t go 1-0 up and then SURRENDER. You want to be on the FRONT FOOT. It’s ARGENTINA who are under pressure.”
Are we seriously going for Olise?
Not only going for him…to break the record for him, despite the clear needs to strengthen the midfield. Don’t get me wrong, Olise is a very good player, but if they have so much money to spend on a player, why the club is not willing to spend it to reinforce the midfield (besides Bernardo Silva signing)?
The work continues
While the World Cup reaches the final, Real Madrid continues its preseason. We are about one month away for the start of La Liga.
