Robin Roefs: 6/10
A spectator for most of the game, had a couple of easy claims to make and a soft shot straight at him but most of his involvements were with his feet.
Thomas Meunier: 7/10
A really good debut, reliable on the ball and always quick to provide an outlet on the right. Not tested defensively though. Had a well taken header ruled out for offside when he rose to meet Xhaka’s cross but Angulo had been adjudged to be offside earlier in the move.
Dan Ballard: 7/10
Went off with a knock but had a good showing before then, was shadowing Lens’ number
nine throughout, following them wherever they went and repeatedly got the better of them.
Luke O’Nien: 7/10
Stayed much more central than Ballard but repeatedly beat any press from the home side with a quick ball into midfield, to get us moving up the pitch.
Reinildo: 7/10
Completely shut down his side of the pitch and was quick to foul if it looked like anyone might get the better of him. Did really well in the first half when Lens had a potential break, as he intercepted the pass and then beat two players to get us out of bother.
Granit Xhaka (C): 7/10
Dictated play as usual from the middle of the pitch, sat in front of the back four and looked to play line breaking passes.
Noah Sadiki: 8/10
Got forward to link up play down the left in the first half, as well as plugging any holes as they popped up but then took over Xhaka’s role after half time and looked the part there too.
Trai Hume: 8/10
Cracked a volley off the bar in the first half but wasn’t to be denied his goal as he rose to steer in Rigg’s cross for the opener. Combined well with Le Fee and Meunier in the first half from a right wing position, then shifted to right back after the break and comfortably dealt with any threat.
Enzo Le Fee: 7/10
A tidy display in an advanced midfield role, popped up in a supporting role no matter which side the pitch the ball was on and looked to get close to Brobbey out of possession.
Nilson Angulo: 6/10
Saw plenty of the ball while he was on the pitch but couldn’t quite get his final ball right, his best moment was when he made a clever run in behind and managed to lift the ball over the goalkeeper but then under his pass to Brobbey when he probably should have just shot himself.
Brian Brobbey: 7/10
Didn’t get much support from the referee but had the better of the Lens centre halves, smacked a shot off the bar but was just about offside.
Substitutes
Chemsdine Talbi: 7/10
Looked a touch rusty but caused some problems with his direct pace, got down the line really well before pulling the ball back for Isidor to make it 2-0.
Habib Diarra: 6/10
Slotted into midfield alongside Sadiki and used the ball well.
Wilson Isidor: 7/10
Took his goal brilliantly, steering Talbi’s cross into the far post with a first time effort.
Chris Rigg: 8/10
Was excellent when he came on, played a lovely cross for the first goal and then played the ball that set Talbi away for the second. Played a few other good balls down the line too.
Jenson Seelt: 6/10
Looked comfortable after coming on and made a good headed clearance near the end, even came close to scoring but couldn’t quite get on the end of a ball into the box.
Timur Tutierov: 6/10
Was a good option down the right wing, always looking to stretch the full back in behind.
Man of the Match: Trai Hume
Started in the right wing position but stepped into midfield and right back when needed, depending on who overlapped. Thundered a volley off the crossbar in the first half, scored the opening goal with a good run and header, and then stepped into right back following Meunier’s substitution and played well there too.
