Jeremiah Webb will soon become a free agent after spending three months on injured reserve.
The New England Patriots waived the wide receiver on Tuesday, according to the NFL transaction wire, allowing him the opportunity to catch on elsewhere in 2026.
Webb, 25, had been placed on injured reserve just two practices into training camp in July after outside linebacker Gabe Jacas signed his rookie contract and began to count against the club’s roster limit. But the corresponding move is no longer season-ending.
Instead, the former transfer from South Dakota to South Alabama will be subject to the league’s claiming period.
Entering the NFL as part of the Patriots’ 2025 undrafted class, Webb caught six passes for 80 yards and one touchdown during his rookie preseason. He also broke off a 59-yard kickoff return and 22-yard punt return. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound wideout was waived at last year’s 53-man roster deadline and proceeded to join the organization’s practice squad at its formation after clearing waivers.
Webb remained to serve as an inactive standard elevation for the AFC wild card in January and reached a futures contract following Super Bowl LX.
With his exit, a dozen continue to reside on injured reserve in Foxborough.
Wide receiver Romeo Doubs joined fellow veteran target Mack Hollins on the list this week due to a shoulder injury. The rest of the IR group includes running back Myles Montgomery, fullback Reggie Gilliam, tight end Julian Hill, offensive linemen Marcus Bryant, Mike Onwenu and Greg Van Roten, linebackers Quintayvious Hutchins and Khalil Jacobs, safety Dell Pettus and punter Bryce Baringer.
The Chicago Bears host Thursday’s 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff at Soldier Field.
