Notre Dame went on the road and beat the North Carolina Tar Heels in the middle of a rainstorm. The Irish did not cover the 21.5 point spread, but they still won by 11 points which keeps their double-digit win streak in tact at 15 games.
The voters are cool with the “subpar” performance even if overzealous fans are not.
Notre Dame received a first place vote in the coaches poll… so someone thinks they’re doing pretty good right now.
The real oddness is that after a 31-3 win over Michigan State, Wisconsin
actually LOST votes in the AP Top 25 this week.
As far as Notre Dame’s opponents are concerned, Miami stays at No. 4 in both polls while BYU jumped up to No. 8 in both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll (despite an unimpressive win over TCU). The SMU Mustangs dropped in both polls ( 24/21) after another struggle win — this time against Boston College.
So… the sky isn’t actually falling angry Notre Dame fan. Things are actually quite fine.
