Bayern Munich phenom Lennart Karl recently saw his contract automatically extend through 2029.
The extension kicked in when Karl turned 18, however, both Karl and the club want to get a new deal in place…but what is the rush? Bild provided some insight as to why both sides are eager to get another contract extension set up and why it still could take a bit to happen:
Since his recent contract extension, Karl now earns an estimated €2 million. A further extension could increase his earnings. However,
the focus remains on his sporting development. Karl and his agent, Michael Ballack (49), intend to wait and see how things progress.
Karl’s current contract with the German record champions contains no release clause. However, other clubs – especially from England – are already eyeing him. This is another reason why Bayern want to extend his contract until 2031 as soon as possible.
In addition to the €2 million salary, Capology has a €500,000 bonus also attached to Karl. Surely, a new contract would increase both of those figures. With English clubs lurking about, it might behoove Bayern Munich to lock up its young star, but it seems that Ballack will want to see how the rest of the season plays out and if Karl can earn a World Cup spot.
