The Atlanta Falcons had a very long day against the Buccaneers defense in Week 8. Michael Penix Jr. threw four interceptions and completed only 33% of his passes in the driving rain en route to a 16-0 win for Tampa Bay.
In the third quarter, the Falcons had a first and 10 on their own 33. Penix’s pass intended for Khalil Herbert went incomplete, and A’Shawn Robinson was flagged for a late hit on Penix and penalized 15 yards. On Saturday, the NFL confirmed Robinson has also been fined $17,500 for the late hit.
Robinson is the first Buccaneers player to be fined by the NFL since Bucky Irving was hit with a $6,988 fine for a chop block against the Vikings in Week 3. Those are the only two fines for Bucs players this season,
The NFL donates half the funds it collects from player discipline to the NFLPA’s efforts to support retired players, and the other half goes to the NFL Foundation and other organizations that benefit youth football programs, community health initiatives, and player safety.
