Per reporting from The Athletic’s James Pearce, Liverpool FC attacker Kieran Morrison is set to go on loan to League One side Sheffield Wednesday.
Per This is Anfield’s Jack Lusby, there had been interest in the player from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the Championship, but it seems that Wednesday and League One will be the ones who can offer
the player the most consistent first-team football minutes.
I feel pretty confident that the U21 captain is comfortably a Championship-level player at the very least, but perhaps Liverpool feel like the guarantee of minutes at Wednesday is more of a sure thing, as there have been loans where the loanee wasn’t able to establish themselves in more competitive Championship sides that were either battling for promotion or against relegation. Wednesday have been hit with an 18-point deduction for this season, so perhaps having a player who’s obviously of a higher calibre than the league they play in will be important for them.
The 19-year-old also signed a new four-year contract with Liverpool, tying him to Anfield until June 2030.
Lusby also mentions that Luke Chambers, Will Wright, Keyrol Figueroa, Wellity Lucky and Isaac Mabaya will be heading on loan, while late decisions will be made on Lewis Koumas, James McConnell and Calvin Ramsay.
Koumas, in particular, has impressed in the preseason and looks like he could perhaps force his way into first-team plans.
Ifeanyi Ndukwe, as has been well discussed in preseason, has to leave on loan to get his UK permit.
