On Thursday, 4-Star defensive lineman Richie Flanigan gave his public commitment to Marcus Freeman and the 2027 Notre Dame Football recruiting class.
The 6’3” 270 pound defensive lineman from Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is the brother of current Notre Dame tight end James Flanigan, and visited during the Texas A&M game. Flanigan chose the Irish over an early offer list that included the Michigan Wolverines, Illinois Fighting Illini, Duke Blue
Devils, Wisconsin Badgers, and others.
Flanigan is the fourth commitment for Notre Dame’s 2027 class, and the first defensive lineman. He’s also the first player committed in this class for Notre Dame that is north of the Mason-Dixon Line (and Green Bay is way north). His commitment puts the Irish class at #8 according to the 247 Team Composite ranking.
Notre Dame’s defensive line has been a question mark through its first three games of the 2025 season, so its good to see the Irish going out and landing a 4-Star legacy like Flanigan.
