What is the story about?

Hey we only have to do 40 more of these after this one.

The competitive part of the Mariners season is largely over. They’re not too far out of the race, but they’re not good at hitting, pitching, running or fielding at the moment. It’s hard to see them getting hot and climbing back into the race. Crazier things have happened, but not much crazier.

Anyways, the Mariners are fully in “let’s see if they can at least be interesting” mode. Even that will be a tough ask today. Max Fried is on the mound,

and he’s one of the best pitchers in the league. He’s also a lefty, so Colt Emerson will sit and Leo Rivas will play in his place. Cole Young also left Wednesday’s game earlier and is still out. Taylor Ward will also sit with quad tightness.
