Former UCF Knights wide receiver Gabe Davis is happy to be back for his second stint with the Buffalo Bills. After a struggling 2025 season marked by injuries and a lack of offense, Davis finished the season with his best
game. Against the New York Jets in week 18, Davis recorded 5 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown in the Bills’ 35-8 win.
Now, Davis and the Bills are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at EverBank Stadium in the Wild Card Game. Davis has another chance with the Bills to hoist the team’s first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. However, Sunday’s Wild Card game against Jacksonville will be a personal one for Davis, but it also could create a chance for him to be the Bills’ x-factor in the game.
From 2020-2023, Davis spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Bills. For the 2024 season, Davis joined the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, Davis’ 2024 season in Jacksonville was quite a forgettable one. Davis recorded under 240 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns, while playing in 10 games as a Jaguar.
With how much he struggled in 2024 in Jacksonville, Davis will be eager to stick it to the Jaguars on their home field. One thing is for sure: Davis can be a sneaky weapon the Bills can use in the game, especially after he produced his best game in week 18, the Bills’ offensive weapons and with how his last game went against the Jaguars two seasons ago.
In week 5 of the 2023 season, when Davis was in his first Bills stint, he lit up the Jaguars’ defense. Davis recorded 6 receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown.
The Bills will be eager to run the ball against the Jaguars with James Cook. This season, Cook’s 1,621 rushing yards led the NFL. Quarterback Josh Allen can run the ball efficiently as well. With that being said, the Jaguars’ defense may game-plan heavily against the run. Therefore, the Jaguars will have to put the ball in Allen’s hands to throw, but his weapons weren’t the best in 2025.
Khalil Shakir’s 72 receptions and 719 receiving yards led the Bills. No other Bills player had 600 yards receiving or 40 receptions. Dalton Kinkaid was the only Bills player to have 5 receiving touchdowns.
The Jaguars’ defense may have a plan to let Cook or Allen be the two players to beat them, but keep them contained. However, with the lack of offensive weapons catching the ball Allen had in 2025, it can create a chance for an unexpected player to have a big game, and that is where Davis could be the unexpected player to show up.
After a solid Week 18 game last week, which was his best game of the entire 2025 season, Davis will be eager for a big playoff game against his old team on Sunday.
