The summer transfer window is still open for quite some time, but Bayern Munich has acted early and gotten the bulk of their incoming business done already. They signed Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven and Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, in addition to nearly finalizing the signing of Bara Sapoko Ndiaye on a permanent deal from Gambios Stars.
The club’s front office has also said that, while not entirely impossible, there’s not likely to be any more incoming business as the priority for
board member for sport Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund is to sell out-of-favor players to help reduce the club’s overall wage bill. They’re also prepping for lucrative contract extension offers for both Harry Kane and Michael Olise that are on the horizon after recently going through the same process foe Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, and Alphonso Davies.
For what it’s worth, Vincent Kompany, the club’s front office, and supervisory board are all very pleased with the current state of the squad and don’t see the need for any additional transfers unless the right opportunity presents itself.
As far as Saibari, Bayern have a player that shone incredibly well for himself at the World Cup with Morocco, netting three goals from the five matches he played in. It was unfortunate he sustained a muscular injury in the round of 16 match against Canada, subsequently missing the quarter final loss to France, but he’s already resumed ball work on the pitch at Säbener Straße for Bayern.
FC Bayern supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß recently offered his admiration for the Moroccan international from Bayern’s preseason training camp despite admitting he did not know too much about the player during his time with PSV. “The player from Morocco really impressed me at the World Cup. I hadn’t really paid much attention to him before, but our people – the coach, Max, and Christoph – praised him very highly. So, on the supervisory board, we were more than happy to give our approval,” Hoeneß enthused to az (via @iMiaSanMia).
During his tenure at PSV, Saibari tallied 42 goals and 29 assists from a total of 142 appearances across all competitions, having collected a handful of club trophies along the way before making the move to Bayern this summer. While he might not be the club’s starting striker over Harry Kane, Saibari will certainly get his chances under Kompay, perhaps more so than Nicolas Jackson did as Kane’s backup last season, and the Moroccan could certainly also be utilized on the wing or as a central attacker if not an outright number 9.
