The No. 15 Michigan Wolverines (4-1) are set to take on the USC Trojans (4-1) at the LA Memorial Coliseum on Saturday night.
In this edition of SB Nation Reacts, we want you to predict the outcome of Michigan vs. USC.
According to betting odds, the game should be a close one. Per
FanDuel Sportsbook, Michigan is currently a 2.5-point underdog against USC. ESPN’s matchup predictor is even less favorable towards Michigan, giving the Wolverines only a 31.5% chance of beating USC.
Michigan beat USC last year at Michigan Stadium 27-24, but this edition of USC has a more potent offensive attack, ranking No. 2 in total offense. While many pundits will point to Michigan having a 1-10 record since 2000 when playing in the Mountain and Pacific time zones (0-5 in the regular season), Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore had a good point about the reason this game is sold out.
“It’s sold out, but it’s sold out because Michigan’s coming,” Moore said on Monday.
Michigan’s record out west this century doesn’t exactly bode well for a win against USC on Saturday, but perhaps this will be a turning of the tide in that regard. It’s bound to happen at some point. A win for Michigan will mean they’ll be nearing a top 10 ranking in the polls, a win for the Trojans means they’ll crack the top 25. It’s a crucial game for both programs in terms of Big Ten standings and playoff aspirations.
