Kyle Tucker has reportedly agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to Jeff Passan. The four-year deal is worth $240 million, according to Robert Murray.
For the back-to-back World Series Champion Dodgers, Tucker will be yet another elite bat on a team which scored the most runs in the National League last season. Tucker, who turns 29 years old on Saturday, has posted an OPS+ of at least 140 in four of his past five seasons. In addition to winning a World Series title with the Astros
in 2022, Tucker has won two Silver Slugger Awards, a Gold Glove Award, and is a four-time All-Star.
The Mets were pursuing the prized free agent, and had reportedly made a four-year offer worth approximately $50M per year which included one or multiple opt-outs. With Tucker headed to L.A., the Mets may pivot their focus toward fellow left-handed bat Cody Bellinger, to whom they have been linked throughout the offseason. The Mets may also be more inclined to give prospect Carson Benge an opportunity to start on Opening Day, as an outfield spot still remains open alongside Juan Soto and Tyrone Taylor on the team’s projected 2026 lineup.
