In the words of head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the NFL blessed the Dallas Cowboys with three games in 11 days after they returned from a ten-hour flight to Rio, Brazil. So far, they are one of two teams to beat the Houston Texans on the road, but they lost to the Baltimore Ravens on the road.
The Cowboys have their first Thursday night game of the season, and after two physical, down-to-the-wire matchups, Dak Prescott is confident his team will be ready for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dak Prescott promises Cowboys will be ‘100’ percent for TNF vs. Buccaneers – Patrik Walker, DallasCowboys.com
The Cowboys need
to win Thursday night if they want to keep pace with the New York Giants—what a world.
“Oh, it’s gonna be 100. It’s gonna be 100,” said All-Pro Dak Prescott when asked if the Cowboys will be ready in a short week after two emotionally and physically draining matchups. “That’s how much I love this game, how much I put in this game throughout my life. Through the offseason, you prepare and you condition, and you do a lot of things for these types of moments.
How Jerry Jones helped a Cowboys’ player make it to the birth of his first child – Nick Harris, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Congratulations to Shemar James and his entire family.
At halftime of the win, James was informed by the Cowboys’ director of security, Cable Johnson, that James’ wife was going into labor. The team and James quickly talked through options, and the way that got him to the delivery room the quickest was actually to wait until after the game and ride back on Jerry Jones’ private jet.

Joey Porter Jr. was a ‘boundary eraser’ in Cowboys debut. Could he be even more than that? – Joseph Hoyt, Dallas Morning News
If the Cowboys can get an All-Pro season from Joey Porter Jr., this defense could turn things around quickly.
Porter didn’t hesitate to say he’d be willing to solely cover a team’s No. 1 receiver.
“When a team gives you that ability to go out there and lock in on a No. 1 guy, that means they really trust you out there,” Porter said. “Whenever I get that call, that’s an exciting task for me.”
The Parker Report: Defense’s growth continues – Dyllan Rivers, Blogging the Boys
Christian Parker’s defense is making baby steps forward in the right direction.
Final grade: C
I really wanted to give this defense a B- for their efforts against the Texans run game. It was by far their best effort of the season in that regard. Yes, the Texans have been pitiful while attempting to run the ball this season. But at the end of the day, you can only play who the schedule says to play. This unit did their job and made the Texans mostly one-dimensional throughout the day. The problem was that the Texans single dimension proved to be quite difficult for Dallas to slow down.
Cowboys making changes on field goal unit after consecutive weeks with blocked kick – Calvin Watkins, Dallas Morning News
After back-to-back weeks with blocked field goals, the Cowboys are making a change to their field goal unit.
“Yeah, moving some pieces around,” Schottenheimer said without getting into specifics. “We were going to move some pieces around anyways because it hasn’t been very good. We’ve got a good rotation going, but at the end of the day, we just got to clean some things up from a technical standpoint.”
The Cowboys are tied for the second most field goal attempts (11) in the NFL with two kicks blocked.
