The United States Women’s National Team is back after a summer off, and they’re preparing for three matches in this upcoming October window. Today, U.S. Soccer revealed the 26-player roster that will compete in matches against Portugal on October 23rd and 26th and New Zealand on October 29th.
Head coach Emma Hayes opted to bring in 26 players for some flexibility in roster rotation with this window including three matches. 23 players will be named to each matchday roster.
“We are extremely excited
to get back together with the team,” said Hayes in a statement. “There has been a big gap from July until now and we’ve watched many club games. Now, it’s time to start the build towards qualifying for the 2027 World Cup. We want to maximize every minute we have together, push the players, and keep the momentum going. These three fantastic games ahead of us will help us do that.”
The 26-player USWNT roster:
Goalkeepers (3): Claudia Dickey (Seattle Reign FC) Mandy McGlynn (Utah Royals), Phallon Tullis-Joyce (Manchester United)
Defenders (8): Jordyn Bugg (Seattle Reign FC), Emily Fox (Arsenal FC, ENG), Lilly Reale (Gotham FC), Tara McKeown (Washington Spirit), Avery Patterson (Houston Dash), Emily Sams (Orlando Pride), Emily Sonnett (Gotham FC), Kennedy Wesley (San Diego Wave)
Midfielders (8): Sam Coffey (Portland Thorns FC), Lindsey Heaps (OL Lyonnes), Claire Hutton (Kansas City Current), Rose Lavelle (Gotham FC), Sam Meza (Seattle Reign FC), Olivia Moultrie (Portland Thorns FC), Jaedyn Shaw (Gotham FC), Lily Yohannes (OL Lyonnes)
Forwards (7): Michelle Cooper (Kansas City Current), Catarina Macario (Chelsea FC), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit), Yazmeen Ryan (Houston Dash), Emma Sears (Racing Louisville), Ally Sentnor (Kansas City Current), Alyssa Thompson (Chelsea FC)
The roster sees Trinity Rodman return after several months away to rehab a back injury. She was last on the team back in April, but has returned to the field with the Washington Spirit and is ready to get back to action in a USWNT uniform. There is one first time call-up for this camp: San Diego Wave defender Kennedy Wesley. She has featured extensively at the youth international level and Emma Hayes decided it was time to get her introduction to the senior national team.
The window will also allow the U-23s to train with the USWNT in Philadelphia and the U-20s to be with the senior team when they move to Kansas City. Those rosters will come at a later date and feature mostly professional players hoping to get some experience. It will also allow Emma Hayes to evaluate all the talent she can as they continue to prepare for World Cup qualifying next year.
The USWNT take on Portugal on October 23rd outside Philadelphia and on October 26th in East Hartford, which will also include a doubleheader with the U.S. Men’s Deaf National Team. They close out the window with a match against New Zealand in Kansas City on October 29th.
