News of Bayern Munich potentially signing Nathaniel “Nene” Brown has been doing its rounds for some time now, starting with a rumour. The club has finally made the transfer official via their social media platforms. The Bavarian born youngster will make the move from Eintracht Frankfurt. Here’s what Bayern’s big bosses have to say about the star, in their official statements from the club website:
Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO: “Nathaniel Brown has a profile that is very much in demand in modern
football. He’s developed really well recently with his speed and dynamism, and we all believe that he’s an excellent fit for FC Bayern. We want to take the next step together, and this transfer also underlines our aspiration to bring top young German players to FC Bayern early. That’s always been a part of our DNA and should remain the case in the future.”
Max Eberl, FC Bayern board member for sport: “We’re delighted to have brought a player to FC Bayern in Nathaniel Brown who’s enjoyed such a rapid development but still has so much potential and is one for the future. He made his mark at the World Cup and showed why we’ve been looking at him for a while. He’ll expand our options in both defence and midfield.”
Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director: “Nathaniel Brown can be used in different positions and has so much speed out wide. He’s already developed into a top player at the age of 23 and will continue to improve. We’re excited about Nathaniel, who will continue to grow here at FC Bayern.”
Nene’s official statement was also released:
Nathaniel Brown: “FC Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world. It means so much to me to have the chance to play for this club and it fills me with pride. I also come from Bavaria, which makes it even more special. I’ve always dreamed of playing for the biggest titles at the highest level; I set myself the highest goals and want to get the maximum out of me every day. I quickly had a great feeling in talks with the management. Vincent Kompany in particular showed me how he sees me and my development and absolutely convinced me.”
The official release states that Brown will be under contract at Bayern Munich until 2031, a five year contract for the 23-year old. Following a crushing exit from the World Cup, the German international will be happy to make the move to a club as big as Bayern. Brown is set to be the clubs next wing back, most probably giving Alphonso Davies a run for his money, competing for the top spot on the depth chart.
