What is the story about?
Mormons
on Mars? Shift
- BYU-Texas Tech: One of the three Actually Good games of the day and the only one of the shift, the two teams sitting atop the Big 12 standings and combine for one singular loss meet tin what could be a preview of a game next month and potential playoff decider.
- Indiana-Penn State: Indiana is probably going to pull away late from the Nittany Lions here, but I don’t feel comfortable writing this game off given the talent on Penn State’s roster (this is a theme today).
- Georgia-Mississippi State: Jeff Lebby and State finally got off the SEC schneid last week against Arkansas after weeks and weeks of being close but not close enough. Georgia is by far the more talented team here, but the Dawgs are down for a scrap if nothing else and are not invincible.
- Colorado-West Virginia: Rules.
Corn Stars Shift
- Texas A&M-Mizzou: The second Actually Good game of the day sees the tentatively playoff-bound Aggies head for CoMo to take on a Mizzou team currently on the outside looking in of the playoffs, but not yet eliminated if they can run the table here on out. But the first step is a big one to take.
- Oregon-Iowa: I’m counting this one of the three Actually Good games, for no other reason than this game is being played in Iowa City in November. Oregon has every single advantage you can list, and yet…
- Iowa State-TCU: Both teams are now playing out the string of the season, but any time these two teams meets it’s worth a screen.
- Kansas-Arizona: Same note as above, except these teams being fun is a newer development. Nothing else better on, though.
Loser Leaves Town Shift
- LSU-Alabama: Oh hey, we still have to play the rest of our games on our schedule. Kinda forgot about that part of it.
- Florida State-Clemson: I don’t think Clemson is going to fire Dabo, but I think if he loses this game then a change of scenery is probably in best interest for him. Conversely, if Florida State loses this one, we could see some #movement in Tallahassee, especially if it’s not particularly close.
- Wake Forest-Virginia: I still have faith, Hoos.
- Air Force-San Jose State: SP+ is calling this one a tossup, which this week is good enough for me.
Robert Kekuala Memorial Shift
- UNLV-Colorado State: Dan Mullen’s mob rolled out to a 6-0 start that failed muster upon closer examination, but 6-0 and bowl eligible they were until they ran into Boise State and stumbled against New Mexico last week. Are the Runnin’ Rebels in a freefall or can they get right against a bad Colorado State which has already fired its coach?
- Nebraska-UCLA: It’s football.
- San Diego State-Hawaii: ALOHA FRIENDS
