This is rock bottom for the Tennessee Titans, right? Right?!? It’s hard to see how things go further down from here, but as fans of the Titans, we know that there is always another level to fall. Here’s
to hoping that Mike McCoy can find a way to keep the Titans from that fall.
As has been the case for most of the year, I expect the Titans to be ranked 32nd in all of these power rankings. I haven’t watched every team in the NFL play this year, but it is hard to imagine there is a team in the league worse than the Titans right now.
After looking, I see a lot of people are placing the 0-6 New York Jets below the Titans. On one hand, I get that, but I’d be willing to bet that the Jets would beat the Titans by two touchdowns if they played each other this week.
Here’s a look at where the Titans rank in some of the various power rankings around the internet:

It’s hard to imagine the Titans being worse than last season after selecting QB Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick. But here we are. The Titans’ offense has scored only 83 points, which is the least by a Titans/Oilers team through six games since 1985, per ESPN Research. The Titans’ loss to the Raiders was their fourth by 10-plus points this season, the most in the NFL. No one expected Tennessee to compete for a division title. But there were supposed to be signs of growth in Year 2 under Brian Callahan, who was fired Monday. Ward is the fourth consecutive quarterback drafted No. 1 to see his coach dismissed during his rookie season. — Turron Davenport

Can the Titans help Cam Ward? Brian Callahan is out as the head coach after last week’s loss to the Raiders. From here, the staff needs to focus on doing anything and everything to help the development of its rookie quarterback. Getting Ward away from his current 70-sack pace would be a good start.

Ultimately, not even Week 5’s miracle comeback victory could save Brian Callahan. The Titans followed that up by once again flopping in a non-competitive loss to the 1-4 Raiders, who pretty much put the game away midway through the third quarter — and it’s not like Las Vegas played great. The Titans were just not progressing on the whole, and Cam Ward was new GM Mike Borgonzi’s handpicked quarterback to lead this team. They couldn’t wait any longer on the QB’s progression, which has stalled in a frustrating start to the season, so you can bet that Callahan’s full-time replacement will be a candidate who can help get the No. 1 pick right. Ward has logged an interception in four straight games, and he lost two fumbles Sunday, but he’s not getting much in the way of organizational support now.

The highest fantasy scorer on the Titans roster is Slye, the kicker. Explains a lot, doesn’t it? Tony Pollard (No. 119) and Calvin Ridley (No. 189) have been disappointments, and rookie quarterback Cam Ward (No. 196 and 35th in EPA per dropback, minus-0.22) just doesn’t have a chance. Neither did head coach Brian Callahan, who was fired on Monday.

They fired coach Brian Callahan on Monday, but does it matter? Cam Ward needs to pick up his play this week against the Patriots.
