Recently, our Matt Holder wrote about five Las Vegas Raiders who could be surprise cuts this summer.
Matt listed these players as his candidates to be potential let go by Las Vegas after the preseason and training camp:
- Safety Isaiah Pola-Mao
- Defensive tackle Adam Butler
- Wide receiver Dont’e Thornton
- Tight end Michael Mayer
- Defensive end Malcolm Koonce
I get Matt listed all of these players. Of course, I think some have a bigger chance of being released than others. I’d really be surprised if Mayer or Koonce were cut. At worst, they could be trade candidates.
Actually, I think every player on this list could be dealt. I do think the
Pola-Mao, Butler and Thornton could all be cut. If I had pick one who would most likely be cut it would probably be Thornton.
He was hyped as a fourth-round draft pick last year and he showed he wasn’t ready to contribute despite getting a lot of chances. He may not be a great fit for Klint Kubiak’s offense and the Raiders have a lot of young receiver.
Who do you think is in the most danger of being cut this summer among the players in this group?
