Just when I was starting to think that Marquette women’s basketball was going to wait until the Big East schedule dropped next month to announce their non-conference schedule, the Golden Eagles let that bad boy fly on Friday morning. Why on a Friday? Who knows? At least it was long before the men’s basketball Big East schedule as opposed to just hours ahead like they did a year ago.
Let’s drop a table version in here real quick since I presume not everyone can make out the lettering or recognize the logos…
I even made a little calendar version of it so you can see how it all lays out in a timeline. The green squares are the game days.
That’s a lot of Tuesday/Weekend for the first three weeks. Given the blank space for the first two weeks of December, I presume that we’re getting some Big East games in there. Finals Week is December 14-19, so that explains that quiet spot in there as well.
I should point this out: The Marquette men’s basketball team is going to be playing in Battle 4 Atlantis on November 25th and 27th. I’m just saying, if you’re going to the Bahamas anyway, maybe stick around all weekend and track down where they’re playing the women’s event, too.
We already knew the Missouri State game was on there, and the Wisconsin game was known because MU announced a home-and-home set last year. Everything else is new information here…. except for the part where Baha Mar is still a mystery. Last year, Baha Mar ran four different four-team events for women’s basketball, so it’s hard to get a read on exactly what kind of opposition the Golden Eagles could be facing in those two games. As you’ll see in a second, it’s safe to say that it’ll be better than four of the games that they announced on Friday, maybe five.
Let’s get into what to expect with the remaining schedule, shall we?
Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils
2025-26 Record: 8-23, 6-12 SWAC
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #356
All-Time Series: Marquette leads, 1-0
The lone meeting was a 69-61 victory by the Golden Eagles in the season opener of the 2011-12 season.
Minnesota Golden Gophers
2025-26 Record: 24-9, 13-5 Big Ten
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #11
All-Time Series: Minnesota leads, 5-4
Before last season, the first eight meetings came between 1990 and 1997, and the results went back and forth in two packs. Marquette took the last two contests of that run, including 67-57 at home. Last season? 90-47 up in Minneapolis in a game that was more memorable for how poorly the MU social media team represented themselves.
Presbyterian Blue Hose
2025-26 Record: 3-27, 1-15 Big South
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #361
All-Time Series: First ever meeting
Wisconsin
2025-26 Record: 16-18, 5-13 Big Ten
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #67
All-Time Series: All tied at 13-13.
This used to be a mostly yearly series from the mid-1990s through the mid-2010s. I think it’s mighty suspicious that the series terminated riiiiight as Carolyn Kieger got things pointed in the right direction in Milwaukee. MU has rebounded in the series from a 1-7 start to pull even after a 65-62 overtime win in Milwaukee last season.
NJIT Highlanders
2025-26 Record: 19-13, 9-7 America East
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #184
All-Time Series: Marquette leads, 2-0.
The first meeting was back in December 2009, and the second was in November 2021. Marquette has won by margins of 40 and 32 points. If NJIT can be a top 200 team again, then this is a pretty savvy scheduling bit by head coach Cara Consugra.
Milwaukee Panthers
2025-26 Record: 8-24, 4-16 Horizon League
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #309
All-Time Series: Marquette leads, 35-20.
I think it’s wild that there was a time where Marquette was on a 15 game losing streak in this series. That means MU is 35-5 in the other 40 contests! The Golden Eagles have won four straight against the Panthers after a 75-43 encounter last season.
Wagner Seahawks
2025-26 Record: 13-17, 9-9 NEC
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #332
All-Time Series: Marquette leads, 1-0
The only meeting between these two teams went 67-49 for Marquette back in December of 2003 in Milwaukee.
Alabama A&M Bulldogs
2025-26 Record: 22-11, 17-1 SWAC
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #232
All-Time Series: First ever meeting.
This will be the first time that these two programs have met, but it won’t be the first time that Alabama A&M has played at the McGuire Center. Their men’s team visited Milwaukee and faced the Matt Carlino era Golden Eagles in a game that did not sell out.
There’s four sub-300 opponents in that list, or at least opponents that were sub-300 a year ago. That’s not ideal, but think about it this way: If that’s balanced out by the games against Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri State, and whatever the Baha Mar games end up as, that’s fine. Marquette is going to need to find a way to win at least two of those five to create a legitimate case for an NCAA tournament bid, though. With the field expanding to 76 teams this coming March, it would very much be in Cara Consuegra’s best interests to figure out how to get her team in there, no matter how much she’s relying on new faces this season.
