In the New York Jets’ 11th game of the 2025 season, on a beautiful autumn day in Baltimore, Maryland, the Jets were beaten by the Baltimore Ravens, 23 – 10.
The first half saw the Jets and the Ravens engage
in a tight defensive struggle. The game was scoreless until the Jets put together a long drive ending in a Tyrod Taylor to John Metchie touchdown pass and a 7 – 0 Jets lead late in the second quarter. The Ravens answered with a drive for a field goal. The first half ended with the Jets leading the Ravens 7 – 3.
The Jets opened the second half on defense. The Ravens began the half looking a lot more like the Ravens team we expected for this game. Lamar Jackson was on target and efficient as the Ravens ground out a time-consuming drive ending with Derrick Henry taking it in from two yards out to give the Ravens their first lead of the game at 10 – 7 midway through the third quarter.
The Jets got the ball and immediately turned the ball over on downs on a questionable fourth and two call at their own 42 yard line.
The Ravens took advantage, driving 42 yards and scoring on a Derrick Henry touchdown run. Tony Adams was the main culprit on the drive for the Jets, getting flagged on a crucial pass interference call and setting the Ravens up with a first and goal at the three yard line. The Ravens touchdown put them up 17 – 7 as the Jets’ hopes for an upset faded away late in the third quarter.
The third quarter ended with the score still 17 – 7, but the Jets were driving deep in Ravens territory. A few plays later Nick Folk kicked a short field goal to bring the Jets within seven points at 17 – 10.
The Ravens answered with a drive ending in a field goal as they gradually ground down an inferior Jets team. With 9:35 left in the game the Ravens had a 10 point lead at 20 – 10.
The Jets made the game interesting on the next drive, taking the ball inside the Ravens’ five yard line before Breece Hall fumbled and the Ravens recovered, all but ending the Jets’ chances with less than seven minutes left in the game. Unless the Jets could get the ball back quickly on a turnover or a quick Ravens three and out, the Jets would be hard-pressed to get two scores with time running short.
Neither a three and out nor a turnover happened. The Ravens ran a few minutes off the clock, then pinned the Jets at their own five yard line with a great punt. With less than three and a half minutes left and the Jets needing two scores, the game was out of reach.
The Jets couldn’t move the ball past their own 15 yard line. They turned it over on downs. The Ravens then kicked a short field goal.
Final score: Ravens 23, Jets 10.
The Jets fall to 2-9 on the season. Now the Jets head home to prepare to face an Atlanta Falcons team next week that has fallen on hard times with starting quarterback Michael Penix out for the season with a torn ACL.
