Syracuse played a doubleheader today to make up for a rainout yesterday. Jonathan Pintaro gave up a three-run homer in the third inning of Game 1 and Syracuse never recovered, despite the fact that the pitching staff did a good job the rest of the way.

Syracuse bounced back to win in Game 2 with an emphatic six-run fourth inning. Nearly everyone contributed, but it was an especially big day at the plate for José Azocar.

The Ponies bounced back from a 2-0 deficit by racking up the runs in the late innings. After being shut out for the first five frames, Binghamton scored at least one run in each of the sixth through ninth innings. Omar De Los Santos’ two-run homer in the seventh was the go-ahead (and ultimately game-winning) hit for the Ponies.

For the first time in the second half, St. Lucie lost its third straight road game. This game was shortened to seven innings due to a weather delay that pushed the start time past 9:00 p.m. The Mets held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth inning when Mets reliever Joel Lara gave up a two-out, go-ahead RBI single that plated two runs. The Mets offense managed just four singles in the game.
