Spain boss Luis de la Fuente was quizzed on Dani Olmo after his team’s 2-0 win over Georgia in World Cup qualifying on Saturday night.
Olmo has dropped out of the squad after missing training all week due
to discomfort.
Barca reportedly sent a medical report warning he was struggling with fatigue and discomfort when he linked up, but De la Fuente seems to have a different side of the story.
Here’s what he had to say after the win over Georgia:
“He came in perfect condition. He just had a minor discomfort, and we thought he’d get better during the week,” he told reporters.
“But in training on Friday, he wasn’t doing well, and that’s why he left. He wasn’t going to make Tuesday’s game because if he’d had any chance, he would have stayed.”
Olmo is expected to undergo further tests on Monday but the expectation is he will miss around 3-4 weeks of action for Barcelona.
