Germany’s official presentation of Jürgen Klopp as the new Germany manager may not have come as a surprise, given the many reports on the topic and the way multiple of those in charge talked about the ongoing process in recent days and weeks.
But they still signed Jürgen Klopp. That is huge news and it still sent waves through the country.
Speaking at the presentation, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, DFB president Bernd Neuendorf spoke of how clearly Klopp was Germany’s top choice:
“We’ve had very intensive
talks in recent weeks. He was our preferred solution from the beginning; we were all in agreement on that within the association. We made every effort to bring Jürgen Klopp on board. He is the best solution.”
Klopp is not the only new coach at Germany, though. Previous manager Julian Nagelsmann’s staff departed along with him and the post had to be filled. The new staff will consist of Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders and Sven Bender.
Furthermore, Per Mertescker will replace Andreas Rettig as DFB managing director upon the expiry of the latter’s contract on January 1, 2027.
