Cristian Romero’s future is once again in the spotlight following the conclusion of World Cup 2026. The Argentina defender is determined to leave Tottenham and is reportedly prioritising a transfer to Barcelona.
According to Sport, Barcelona spoke to Romero before the World Cup but can only bring in the defender if they offload a center-back first.
Spurs are believed to want around 50 million euros for Romero and the defender has also attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and Inter.
Barcelona currently have five center-backs in the first-team squad but would be willing to listen to offers for Ronald Araujo. It’s also not ruled out that Andreas Christensen could also leave despite signing a new contract.
Sport claim that Romero would be “willing to force a negotiation through a loan with a mandatory purchase option” as he tries to engineer a way out of Tottenham.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Should Barcelona sell a defender to sign Cristian Romero?
