Gotham FC midfielder Taryn Torres has been placed on the season-ending injury list after tearing her ACL during training, Gotham FC announced on Friday. The injury, which is to Torres’s left knee, will cause her to miss the remainder of the reason.
“We are deeply saddened for Taryn,” Gotham FC general manager and head of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West said. “She will have our full support throughout her recovery, and we have no doubt she will come back stronger than before.”
Torres previously
tore her ACL during preseason camp in 2023, and missed the entire 2023 season.
Torres originally signed with Gotham after being selected in the 2021 NWSL draft out of the University of Virginia. She has played in 15 matches this season including 8 starts. Throughout her time with Gotham, she has 47 appearances and 22 starts.
Gotham FC also announced that rookie forward Khyah Harper has signed a contract extension through 2026. Harper signed with Gotham this season from the University of Minnesota.
Harper scored her first professional goal in August against the Chicago Stars, which was also her first start with Gotham. She also scored a game-winning goal against Monterrey in the W Champions Cup. Harper has 10 NWSL appearances and 2 starts this season.
“I am truly excited and grateful to extend my contract with Gotham FC,” said Harper. “Representing such an amazing club is an honor, and my growth has been tremendous. I cannot thank the owners, coaches, my teammates, staff and supporters enough for their trust in me. I am committed to excellence and will contribute to the team in any way I can. Let’s go Gotham!”
“Khyah has made big strides in her first season as a professional, making positive impacts in the games she’s featured in this season,” said Yael Averbuch West, the general manager and head of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “We are very happy to have Khyah continue with us and look forward to her ongoing development and contribution.”
