NFL Week 1: Biggest questions, takeaways for every game | ESPN.com
“We have to be urgent. If we let this linger like we did last year, we’ll be 3-14 again. I’ll be damn sure I’m not going to accept that,” Giants right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor said about the blowout loss.

4 questions we have after NY Giants’ 21-6 loss to Commanders in NFL Week 1 | The Record
When the first game of a new season looks too
familiar to the way last season ended, the New York Giants have a lot for which they need answers.
If you just turn on the tape of Sunday’s 21-6 Week 1 loss to the Commanders, other than the new faces and the change in venues, an untrained eye might not be able to tell the difference between this year and the previous two games that opened the season.
Giants have to switch to Jaxson Dart, Rex Ryan says: ‘Russell Wilson can’t play anymore’ | New York Post
“You’ve got to put [Dart] in because Russell Wilson can’t play anymore, and I don’t know what the hell you’re doing with him,” Ryan said. “There’s never an easy time. Everybody has good players. What are you afraid of? Is it gonna be worse? Hell no. Put him out there, let him go, let him ride, and let’s see. Look, if all of a sudden this guy becomes a real player, which we all assume he will. I think the kid’s got talent. He looked really good — he outplayed Russell Wilson head and shoulders in the preseason. Put him in there. What are you doing? You’re gonna play a guy that can’t do it anymore? Stop.”

Wilson will not simply pass the torch to Dart; the rookie will have to take it. Despite the outcry from fans who want Dart, despite criticism over that past three or four seasons, Wilson said he has allowed himself to cherish the moments.
“You realize that the years add up, and the yards add up, the touchdowns add up, and the wins add up” he said. “It’s just embracing every moment. I’ve been fortunate to be able to embrace every moment. I know for me in Year 14, I feel like this is Year 1. You embrace it all over again. I feel young, I feel vibrant, I feel energetic.”

Overreactions from Week 1 of NFL season: Josh Allen best QB in NFL? | CBSSports.com
Russell Wilson should not start for the Giants in Week 2. Overreaction or reality: Reality. With no Andrew Thomas at offensive tackle, the offensive line was putrid once again — allowing eight quarterback hits and having players start up front who aren’t NFL-caliber starters.
Even so, Wilson has to be better as a quarterback with a Hall of Fame resume. Wilson threw for just 168 yards and averaged 4.5 yards per attempt (59.3 rating). When facing pressure, Wilson was 2 of 7 for 26 yards and sacked twice (42.6 rating).

📈 Calls for Jaxson Dart. The worst of that category was the Giants’ Russell Wilson, who completed just 46 percent of his passes for 4.5 yards per attempt in the loss to Washington. My guess is that Brian Daboll waits at least until stalwart left tackle Andrew Thomas, who missed Sunday’s game, is healthy, but as Dianna will explain, that might not be the case.

Malik Nabers gives ominous answer about back health after Giants’ loss | New York Daily News
Mailk Nabers gave expansive answers about the Giants‘ shortcomings after Sunday’s 21-6 dud defeat at Washington. But he would not confirm whether he was playing at 100% health with a back ailment that bothered him late in training camp and kept him out of Friday’s practice. The wide receiver’s reluctance to address his back tightness set an ominous tone entering next Sunday’s Week 2 must-win at the Dallas Cowboys.
“I won’t be answering that question,” Nabers said.

Daboll has a tough decision ahead of him. First-rounder Jaxson Dart flashed his potential throughout the preseason, but he may not be ready to face the herculean challenge of succeeding behind a roughshod o-line that conceded a near-50 percent pressure rate on Sunday. Putting Dart in too early and allowing him to be battered could shake the rookie’s confidence, but it’s also the best shot the head coach has of retaining his position.
With Daboll’s job on the line following an abysmal 3-14 campaign, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Dart enter the lineup if and when the team falls behind to Dallas in Week 2. Whether the rookie is ready remains to be seen, but a poor showing in that bitter divisional rivalry contest will tank this season before the second half of September even begins.

3 questions following Cowboys’ loss to Eagles | Blogging the Boys
Can the pass rush improve? The nature of the game also limited guys like Osa Odighizuwa and Solomon Thomas from being able to attack up the middle. But if Kenny Clark and the defensive front can shut down the run like they did in the second half, most other teams will get more one-dimensional and make life easier for the pass rushers.
Cowboys place DT Perrion Winfrey on injured reserve | Pro Football Talk
The Cowboys have placed defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey on injured reserve, the team announced. Winfrey injured his back in an Aug. 31 practice, did not practice the rest of the week and was ruled out of Thursday’s season opener against the Eagles.
