Marcus Rashford’s loan spell at FC Barcelona has quietly become one of the season’s smarter moves. Signed from Manchester United last summer with a €30 million purchase option, he’s already making a strong case to stay. And now, a recent report says he has already ruled out a return to Manchester.
On the pitch, Rashford has been decisive. He isn’t always starting, but he shows up when it matters. Against Albacete in the Copa del Rey, he provided a corner assist to Ronald Araújo and was involved in multiple
key plays, even if a few chances slipped through his feet. Barcelona won and advanced in the Copa del Rey.
Across La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Copa, he’s in double digits for both goals and assists, proving he can change games even off the bench.
Hansi Flick hasn’t been shy about pushing him further. After the Albacete match, he said, “I think he has a lot of potential to show. We always look at goals and the final pass because you can improve.”
He added, “With his speed and his technique he can give us much more. I’m happy with Rashford, but he has much more potential. I want everyone at their best version. This is mentality, attitude during the work. It’s what we want to see. Always be better.”
Off the field, Rashford is reportedly decisive as well. Michael Carrick was said to want him back at Manchester United next season, but according to The Mirror, Rashford isn’t interested. He’s told Barcelona he wants to stay at the Spotify Camp Nou beyond the FIFA World Cup, and if that doesn’t happen, he would look elsewhere rather than returning to Old Trafford.
The €30 million purchase option is still viable, and market valuations already put Rashford above that price. Talks last summer were tense, with the clubs squaring off over numbers, but Barça may have got the upper hand. Now it’s just a question of timing, and if they pull the trigger.
