BOOM!
The momentum surrounding Ohio State recruiting and specifically the 2026 class is fully here. A major addition to the class coming on Thursday, the Buckeyes have their latest commitment thanks to four-star defensive back, Jay Timmons (Gibsonia, Pennsylvania/Pine-Richland), who has flipped to Ohio State from Florida State.
Committed to the Seminoles since June, the Buckeyes and position coach Tim Walton were able to get Timmons on campus last weekend for the Penn State game. The visit clearly
exceeded all expectations, and Timmons had plenty to consider following his trip.
With Florida State facing plenty of adversity around their program this season, the 5-foot-11, 185 pound athlete clearly was ready to look elsewhere, and the Buckeyes are the winner in the end.
The No. 136 player nationally and 17th best cornerback in the 2026 class per the 247Sports Composite, it can’t be overstated how big of a win this is for Ohio State and Tim Walton. The son of former Florida State and Pittsburgh Steeler, Lawrence Timmons, Jay has the lineage and rating that show he’s a stellar addition to a class that wanted at least one more true cornerback in the fold.
Working hard to get it done this late into the cycle, the Buckeyes show off their recruiting chops in a major way and have another elite playmaker in the backend of their secondary on their hands. Moving up a spot to now the eighth-ranked 2026 class, the Buckeyes sit at 22 commits and are looking to add more down the final stretch.
The momentum in Columbus is real.
