Jake Paul never got that dream fight opposite Canelo Alvarez, but he did manage to score a nightmare matchup against Anthony Joshua.
“El Gallo” will box the former two-time unified world heavyweight champion on Netflix, an eight-round banger set for Netflix on Fri., Dec. 19, 2025 from inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida
. Not surprisingly, Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) is a massive underdog after spending his entire boxing career at or around the cruiserweight limit.UFC CEO, Dana White, plans on tuning in —
but is the second promoter to call the bout a “bad idea.”
“Let me tell you what, a lot of people will watch that one,” White said at the UFC 322 press conference. “You know what, everybody’s tuning in for on that one. I think everybody’s going to get what they’ve finally been waiting for.”
Including White, who’s been at odds with Jake (but not his brother Logan) for several years.
Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) takes over for Gervonta Davis, who was previously booked to battle Paul in “The Sunshine State” but got bounced over legals issues (more on that here). Former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, got approached to take over for “Tank” but scoffed at the idea, paving the way for “AJ.”
