Bayern Munich is not expected to make sweeping changes to their starting XI for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with FC Augsburg, with Vincent Kompany seemingly intent on maintaining continuity despite the demands of the international break.
According to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Serge Gnabry is the leading candidate to fill the attacking midfield role after Jamal Musiala was ruled out because of the thigh injury he sustained during the international break. Gnabry would operate in the No. 10 position, giving
Bayern Munich an experienced option to help compensate for Musiala’s absence.
Luis Díaz is also expected to return to the starting lineup after enjoying a full rest during the international break. The Colombian winger should feature on one flank, with Michael Olise expected to occupy the opposite side and provide Bayern with another dangerous attacking option.
At left-back, Alphonso Davies is reportedly set to keep his place. The Canadian international did not feature for his national team during the break and also had time away for his honeymoon, meaning he should be available to continue in Kompany’s preferred lineup.
Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović are expected to retain their partnership in central midfield, while Manuel Neuer is projected to start between the posts after enjoying approximately three weeks of rest.
The anticipated lineup suggests Kompany is prioritizing stability rather than using Augsburg as an opportunity to rotate heavily. With Musiala unavailable, Bayern will need Gnabry and the rest of their attacking unit to maintain the creativity and firepower that have made them so dangerous this season.
