FC Augsburg coach Sandro Wagner did not mince words after his team dropped a 3-2 decision to Bayern Munich. Toward the end of the contest, Sacha Boey made contact with Robin Fellhauer, who had to stretchered off the pitch.
“When you see the family in the dressing room. His mother was crying, his sisters were crying. It disturbed me a lot that Boey didn’t say sorry and that the Bayern bench was screaming that there was no foul. I know it wasn’t his intention to hurt him, but it annoyed me that he didn’t apologize.
It’s forgotten now. They apologized in the dressing room, so the topic is over for me,” Wagner said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany attempted to diffuse the situation, but it was likely not enough to quell how FC Augsburg was feeling.
“We want the health of every player. In the first moment of contact, you don’t always have the right picture. Sandro’s words were right. But Sacha then went and apologized. I don’t think he understood the severity of what happened at the beginning. Once he did, he apologized. We wish Felle and his family the best,” Kompany said.
Amid all of the transfer craziness surrounding Bayern Munich’s work with Chelsea over a loan deal for Nicolas Jackson, there was an actual game to be played — and Bayern Munich was up to the task even if a slow start and a midgame loss of focus might have given Die Fuggerstädter some hope.
