Yesterday was long, exhausting, and glorious. Woke up at 6am to catch the early train down to the Bay. Walked around for a couple hours after getting there, had some lunch, a few drinks. Got to the stadium early to beat the rush; nice and leisurely. Watched the US win 2-0 despite two offside goals, a clear penalty uncalled, and a ridiculous red card. Sang Country Roads. Back home by midnight-ish.
What a day; what a day!
Earlier in the day, England scraped together an unimpressive 2-1 win over DR Congo
and Senegal threw away a two-goal lead against Belgium, who then got a rather soft penalty to win it at the end of extra-time and avoid the lottery of spot kicks. Senegal had this game won twice over; devastating to lose it by conceding twice in the final five minutes.
Onwards.
