The Kentucky Wildcats are set to lose a veteran member of their secondary, as DJ Waller will reportedly enter the transfer portal, according to 247 Sports reporter Chris Hummer. Waller will have two seasons of eligibility at his next school after redshirting this past season.
Originally a class of 2023 prospect out of Youngstown, Ohio, Waller began his career at Michigan, where he won a national championship with the Wolverines as a reserve cornerback that year.
After Jim Harbaugh bolted for the Los
Angeles Chargers, Waller entered the portal and landed at Kentucky. He would become a starter during the 2024 season, but injuries led to him appearing in just seven games.
Things got even worse this past season after a hamstring injury led to him appearing in just two games.
Waller certainly had the potential to be a quality SEC starter for the Wildcats, but injuries simply never allowed that to materialize. Here’s to hoping Waller is able to stay healthy at his next stop and show everyone what he’s truly capable of.
