During his Early Signing Day press conference, Syracuse Head Coach Fran Brown talked about the last-minute efforts of schools to flip defensive lineman Alex Haskell.
“Everybody was trying up until last
night calling him and on the phone with him, up the whole [I-95],” Brown said. “He was getting text messages and letting me see what they say. I can’t wait until we get to play football again and it’ll be the right way. I’m gonna remember all those texts.”
Brown wouldn’t name names but that won’t stop the crack FNSI team from building their own suspect list, so let world-renowned detective Ottoline Orange take it away….
Our prime suspect is one James Franklin- new HC at Virginia Tech. Haskell was committed to Penn State before Franklin was fired. Since taking over with the Hokies, Franklin flipped a number of former PSU commits. All signs point to him being the culprit, but perhaps that’s too easy.
Could it have been Mike Norvell? The FSU HC would have been fired by now if the school could afford it. Norvell has former Syracuse DC Tony White on staff and he just poached DE coach Nick Williams. Norvell had motive too as Brown flipped Tedarius Hughes this fall….
Let’s head further south. The Orange signed a couple of big prospects out of Miami. Last season they knocked the Hurricanes out of the ACC title game and this year Fran was engaged in spirited discussion with our next suspect- Mr. Mario Cristobal.
Maybe it’s old Orange nemesis Greg Schiano? He’s certainly got a long history of negative recruiting against Syracuse and his seat in Piscataway is scorching hot.
Other possible candidates- Mike Locksley? Tony Elliott? Bob Chesney?
We might have to wait for next Fall to find out, but Ottoline will be following any leads that emerge….who do you think Fran was referring to?
