Fall Break is over, and the students are back on campus. Fall sports regular seasons are winding their way to an end, and some sports that span seasons are getting close to hibernating for a few months. It feels like it has finally turned into real fall in North Carolina, but that also means your chances to catch some teams are starting to run out already.
The schedule this week is highlighted by a primetime game happening in Kenan Stadium for the first time this season, and after the results of this past
week it may not be the last. It highlights a busy weekend that follows a very quiet week, so if you want to watch Tar Heels in person you’ll need to be deliberate in your plans. Let’s hop to it.
UNC Football
After nearly a month away, the Tar Heels football squad led by a resurgent Bill Belichick play a game under the lights on ACC Network. Their opponent is a very game but also very beatable Syracuse team. If they hold on and Miami doesn’t trip up over Pitt, you’ll have a pretty attractive matchup happening on Halloween in the Hill.
- Saturday, 10/24 — vs Syracuse, Chapel Hill, NC — 7:30 PM, ACC Network
UNC Women’s Tennis
The ITA regionals in Columbia continue today, and then this weekend they head down to Georgia for the Rome Tennis Center Collegiate Invite. These events are a little odd in that you’ll see UNC on UNC matches, but all in all it’s good work before the Fall NCAA Championships in November.
- Monday 10/19 – Tuesday 10/20 — ITA Regionals, Columbia, SC
- Friday 10/23 – Sunday 10/25 — Rome Tennis Center Center Collegiate Invite, Rome, GA
UNC Men’s Golf
Men’s Golf started out with the Williams Cup down in Wilmington yesterday, and this is it for them until February. If you happen to be down on the coast and want to take part, slide on by the Eagle Point Golf Club to catch men’s collegiate golf for the last time in 2026.
- Monday 10/19 – Tuesday 10/20 — Williams Cup, Wilmington, NC
UNC Women’s Golf
In a different part of Wilmington, the women’s golf team will be finishing up the 2026 part of their schedule in the Landfall Tradition. The event is being hosted by UNC Wilmington, and this will be the last chance you have to see any UNC collegiate golf in 2026.
- Friday 10/23 – Sunday 10/25 — Landfall Tradition, Wilmington, NC
UNC Men’s Tennis
You also have a chance to travel and see another UNC team in-state as the men’s tennis team heads to Winston-Salem for the Wake Forest Invite. This begins a stretch of several events on the road hosted by other schools before they compete in fall championships.
- Friday 10/23 – Sunday 10/25 — Wake Forest Invite, Winston-Salem, NC
UNC Women’s Diving
The football team wasn’t the only squad to beat Duke this week. Swimming and Diving succeeded on both sides against the Devils in their meet this week, and now the women divers will host Tulane on Friday night in another meet at Koury. These events tend to move quick, so if you plan to go you’ll want to be there from the start.
- Friday 10/23 — vs. Tulane, Chapel Hill, NC — 3 PM
UNC Women’s Soccer
You are almost out of chances to see the women’s team play in person. This week is the second-to-last regular season matchup at Dorrance Field. Now the way the team is playing, they are very likely going to be hosting some postseason events at home, but as November rolls along those dates are going to be sudden. This women’s squad is rolling and will be a big player in the tournament this year, so if you want to catch them you should soon.
- Friday 10/23 — vs. Stanford, Chapel Hill, NC — 6 PM, ACC Network
UNC Field Hockey
Speaking of running out of chances, this week is the last one of the regular season at home. After Friday, the Tar Heels hit the road for their last two — though the last one is just down the road in Durham. This has been a bit of a scattershot season for the Tar Heels, though they seem to have found themselves lately. They are likely going to be finding themselves playing on the road in the postseason more, so you may want to jump on a chance to see them while you can. That said, if you live in western NC, you’ll have a chance on Sunday to see them in person.
- Friday 10/23 — vs. Wake Forest, Chapel Hill, NC — 6 PM, ACCNX (Streaming only)
- Sunday 10/25 — at Appalachian State, Boone, NC — 1 PM, YouTube (look for App State Sports)
UNC Softball
After a couple of weeks off from the fall schedule, the softball team begins the last part of their fall exhibition matchups before they take off the rest of 2026 and launch into what they hope will be a build on their great 2026 season. Keep an eye on GoHeels and the softball account for times here.
- Friday 10/23 — vs Florida Vibe, Chapel Hill, NC
- Sunday 10/25 — vs Barton, Chapel Hill, NC
- Sunday 10/25 — vs Barton, Chapel Hill, NC
UNC Volleyball
Fresh off a strong weekend in the conference and staying at the stop of the league that doesn’t have a postseason tournament, the volleyballers get to play at home for the first time in three weeks. They do so hosting the Bay Area two step as both California ACC schools fly east and spend the weekend in lovely North Carolina. This squad is setting up something special, folks, and it’s really looking like the tough schedule they had at the start may have toughened them up to succeed later. If you need another sign at just how much they’ve improved, peep at where and when Sunday’s game will be shown — ESPN has made it a point to feature women’s sports on Sunday nights now, and it says something they chose this matchup to show.
- Friday 10/23 — vs Cal, Chapel Hill, NC — 7 PM, ACCNX (Streaming only)
- Sunday 10/25 — vs Cal, Chapel Hill, NC — 8:30 PM, ESPN
UNC Men’s Soccer
While this squad has been uneven to start the season, they’ve found their footing of late. They held on for a tough 1-0 win against seventh ranked Pitt on Friday night, and now they’ll hit the road to take on their archrivals to try and mantain the momentum. There are only two games left in the regular season for this squad, though with the way they’ve finished they should have some postseason play to look forward to.
- Friday 10/23 — at Duke, Durham, NC — 8 PM, ACC Network.
UNC Women’s Lacrosse
The women’s lacrosse team finishes their fall exhibition schedule over at Finley North this weekend. Jenny Levy’s squad hopefully is taking their lessons from this run to try and get back to the top of the mountain next spring, and the lessons should be plentiful with this doubleheader on Saturday.
- Saturday 10/24 — vs. Ohio State, Chapel Hill, NC — 10 AM
- Saturday 10/24 — vs. Davidson, Chapel Hill, NC — 12:30 PM
UNC Women’s Basketball
There may not be a hotter women’s coach in the country right now than Courtney Banghart. She’s entering this year with the top recruit in the country, and she’s gotten commitments from two five-stars for next year’s squad. They continue their exhibition lineup before heading to Paris to start the regular season against an old foe — one whose season they ended last year.
- Saturday 10/24 — at Maryland, College Park, MD — 1 PM, B1G+
