Point blank, Week 7 sucked for the Las Vegas Raiders, as they got blown out by a very injured Los Angeles Rams team. But let’s see how the weekend fared for a few old friends: Geno Smith, Jermaine Eluemunor and
Geno Smith
Score: 28-25 Jets lose
Stats: 23/30 (76.7%), 287 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT
We’re a week away from Smith’s revenge game as the Raiders head to New York next week. Both teams desperately need a win if they have any hopes of keeping their slim playoff chances alive, especially after both clubs lost on
Sunday. However, the bigger story was Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson giving Smith an earful on the sidelines with the team down four points in the fourth quarter. What’s interesting is that the quarterback had a decent game, but Wilson could have been frustrated with only getting three targets. That, plus losing to a winless Dolphins team, will do that. The wideout tried to brush off the situation, saying he and Smith were “collaborating” (h/t SNY Jets).
Jermaine Eluemunor
Score: 27-21 Giants win in OT
Truth be told, Eluemunor’s spotlight is less about Week 7 and more about the post/tweet from Pro Football Focus below. Heading into the weekend, the offensive tackle has the highest pass-block win rate (96.7%) of his entire position. However, PFF’s preliminary grading (which is subject to change after review) has him on the hook for a couple of pressures against the Houston Texans. So, Eluemunor’s pass protection standing could be changing a bit, but he’s still playing well, and the Giants have a decent command of the NFC East at 4-2-1, while the 2-4 Philadelphia Eagles and 2-4 Dallas Cowboys battle it out for second place on Monday Night Football.
Josh Jacobs
Score: 20-17 Packers lose
Stats: 11 carries, 36 yards (3.3), 5 catches, 55 yards, 1 receiving TD
This was Jacobs’ first game back since being removed from the Commissioner’s exempt list after being charged with a misdemeanor for a domestic incident this offseason. A couple of weeks ago, he took a plea deal for two misdemeanor charges, and his case is still under review by the NFL for a potential suspension. On the field, the running back didn’t find much success on the ground, but he did have an impressive 25-yard touchdown catch, tightroping the sideline for a score. However, Jacobs did have a costly drop in the end zone that would have given the Green Bay Packers a six- or seven-point lead with about 3:30 left on the clock. Instead, the Packers’ kicker missed a field goal, and the Lions’ kicker nailed a walk-off.
